Preparing The Artwork

Sometimes the transmission of certain files, fonts and images from computer to computer may change or become corrupted. Meaning, when we receive a file it might not look the same on our screen as it did on yours.

With the provided instructions you will be able to send us your file in a format which rarely reflows. This will allow us to create proofs and a finished product more quickly and efficiently.

The issues we encounter are simple to fix.

  • Create document size to exact dimension.

  • When saving a PDF that contains more than one page:
save as pages; cover, page 1, page 2, page 3..... back,
    DO NOT save printer spreads.

  • NEVER specify the colors as RED, GREEN, etc. always use their Pantone name.
Note: 286u will print differently than 286cvu.

  • If you are creating a 4-color process job be sure to check the pictures and graphics, they need to be CMYK, not RGB.

  • If you are creating anything less than a 4-color process job the photos need to be one Pantone color or a grayscale TIFF.

  • When placing images in the document, be sure that they are flattened jpg, eps or tiff. (Note: even though InDeisgn is compatible with psd and pdf in some cases the fonts and pictures do not embed properly.)

  • Avoid using:
    TimesNewRoman - Italic
    Avenir
    Frutiger

Using the following print drivers will create the best possible pdfs for our system. Open the program your job is being built in and follow the directions accompanied with each driver.
